Global Campaigns Director for Crisis Action

Janah Ncube was recently appointed as the Global Campaigns Director for Crisis Action. Prior to this she was Pan Africa Director for Oxfam. Her work in the last 10 years has had particular focus on Africa’s regional integration and civil society development on the continent. Her career spans over 15 years working on human rights with a particular focus on women’s rights; conflict reduction and peace building; reducing poverty and injustice with organisations such as the SADC Secretariat, the Centre for Citizens’ Participation on the African Union, Women in Politics Support Unit amongst others. Janah is a Chevening scholar, holding a Masters’ Degree in Gender and Women’s Studies. In 2005, the University of Bradford gave her an award to recognise her outstanding contribution in managing diversity. In 2006, she graduated as an Archbishop Desmond Tutu fellow of the Africa Leadership Institute (Afli). In 2011, Janah was named one of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons in Zimbabwe by the Junior Chamber of Commerce. A true Pan Africanist at heart, Janah believes that Africans have the capacity, resources and answers to lift Africa out of poverty, transform it such that it works for Africans.
