Dr. Raphael Olanrewaju Babatunde holds a Ph.D. degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart, Germany. He has been a Lecturer and Researcher at the Department of Agricultural Economics and Farm Management, University of Ilorin, Nigeria since 1999 and rose to become an Associate Professor in 2016. He has more than 15 years of International Research experience in the field of Agricultural and Development Economics. His research interest is majorly on issues of poverty, food security, nutrition economics, livelihood diversification, impact assessment, farming system, social protection, migration and remittances in Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa. He has over eighty (80) publications in both local and international reputable journals. He has received several postdoctoral trainings abroad through numerous fellowships and research grants.

He is the Ambassador of the Centre for International Cooperation and Development (CICOPS), in Nigeria and a member of the DAAD alumni network. He has been a policy and research consultant to a number of international organizations such as the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), United State Agency for International Development (USAID), United Nations Development Programmes (UNDP), International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and African Union (AU). He is a member of the Nigerian Young Academy (NYA), African Growth and Development Policy Modeling Consortium (AGRODEP) and several other professional organizations. Dr Babatunde is a partner in several local Agricultural Research and Consultancy firms such as JIDE ORO and TIMY Consultancy firms and he is the founder of Havana Consult Nigeria Limited. He has served in different capacities at the University of Ilorin. He has been the acting Head of Department (2013-2015); Member of Senate (2013-2015); Member of SERVICOM Committee (2010-2015); Member of COMSIT Board (2010-2015); Member of Faculty Board of Agriculture (since 1999) and Deputy Editor-in-Chief, Journal of Agriculture and Rural Development.
