Dr Peggy Oti-Boateng is the Senior Programme Specialist for Science and Technology and also serves as the Coordinators for the African Network of scientific and Technological Institutions (ANSTI) in the UNESCO Multi-Sectoral Regional Office in Harare, Zimbabwe.  Dr Oti-Boateng has over 32 years working experience in teaching, research and development of technologies for sustainable development and STI policy.  As UNESCO Senior Advisor for Africa on Science, Engineering and Technology and ANSTI coordinator she provides technical assistance and support to the African Union Commission, regional economic blocks, member states and universities in the promotion of science technology and Innovation (STI) policies and access to knowledge; mobilization of broad-base participation in STI and; human resource and research capacity building in basic and engineering sciences and renewable energy, with a passion for promotion of gender in science and engineering. She also works in collaboration with Education, Culture and Communication and Information sectors of UNESCO. 

Until 2011, Dr Peggy Oti-Boateng was the Director for the Technology Consultancy Centre (TCC), College of Engineering of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (2004-2011). She has rich experience as a Senior Research Fellow in Biochemistry and supervised several postgraduate student research in Food Technology, Engineering and Business Administration with a focus on strategies for Technology Commercialisation. She managed numerous partnership and international cooperation, the EU, CIDA, SIDA, African development Bank, the World Bank, EU-Jatropha project, Millennium Challenge Account African development Bank Soybean Collaborative Research Project, World Bank Capacity building of health personnel in Nutrition and Growth Monitoring and several bilateral and multinational partnership projects.  She was an international Juror for UNESCO-Daimler Mondialogo Engineering Award and years and a Member of the International Advisory Group for Conference for Women Engineers and Scientists-ICWES15. She is the author of several journal articles, technical papers, manuals, baseline reports, books and book chapters on science, technology and innovation policy, food technology, health and nutrition, microfinance, and HIV/AIDS. Dr Oti-Boateng is on Editorial Board of the British based Food Chain Journal.  Dr Oti-Boateng holds a PhD degree from the University of Adelaide, South Australia and a BSc Degree in Biochemistry from KNUST, Kumasi, Ghana.
