Save The Date - Africa Innovation Summit 2018

Innovation: Adressing Africa's Challenges

The Africa Innovation Summit 2018 (AIS 2018) will be held in Kigali, Rwanda from 6 to 8 June 2018. The AIS 2018 follows the first Africa Innovation Summit (AIS) that took place in Praia, Cabo Verde and which counted many stakeholders, including African Heads of State, ministers, innovators, investors, senior officers of regional and interanational organizations and entrepreneurs. It was an innovation system in action! The participants unanimously agreed on the need to continue to promote the dialogue and committed to supporting the AIS initiative.

The AIS 2018 is focused on innovation as a tool to address Africa’s pressing challenges, such as poverty, health, food security, climate change and governance. The intention for this event is to provide a platform for stakeholders to dialogue, while also aiming to serve as a catalyst for the emergence of coalitions to mobilize for actions. Resolving Africa’s pressing challenges, however, will not happen through a laissez-faire agenda. We must mobilize the people with the ‘power to act’, those with financing, the thinkers, the people with ideas as well as ‘doers’, into coalitions for collective actions to address specific challenges. The AIS is part of this mobilization. The main Summit in Kigali will bring together about 1000 stakeholders from various sectors and many others in the 3 to 5 Satellite Summits around the continent to seek innovative and disruptive solutions to Africa’s challenges. AIS 2018 will include activities before, during and after the Summit. The goal is to engage as many people as possible and contribute to the development of a large constituency among the various stakeholders and sectors in Africa in support of innovation. Join us and be part of the AIS.
